Applying Car Soap
Many car owners are under the mistaken impression that any soap is suitable for washing their car. In reality, however, using the wrong type of soap can damage the paintwork. Car soap is specifically designed to be gentle on paint surfaces, and it also helps to remove dirt and grime more effectively. As a result, it is always best to use car soap when washing your car, even if you are using a pressure washer.
When you go to apply the soap, make sure that you do so in a shaded area. This will help to prevent the soap from drying on the paint surface. In addition, only use a small amount of soap – too much can actually make it more difficult to remove all the suds later on. Finally, be sure to work the soap into any areas where there is dirt or grime. This includes the wheels, as they can often be quite dirty.
Rinsing Your Car
Once you have applied the soap and scrubbed the surface of your car, it is time to rinse it off. Begin by rinsing the car with clean water, and then move on to using a hose with a spray nozzle attachment. Be sure to direct the stream of water onto the car at an angle, as this will help to remove any soap suds that may be clinging to the surface.
In addition, make sure that you rinse off areas where there is dirt or grime, such as the wheels. Once you have rinsed the car thoroughly, you can move on to drying it.
Drying Your Car
After you have rinsed off the soap suds, it is time to dry your car. The best way to do this is with a microfiber towel. Microfiber towels are specifically designed to be gentle on paint surfaces, and they are also quite absorbent. As a result, they are ideal for drying your car.
To dry your car properly, start by moving the towel in straight lines. Be sure to work from the top of the car down, as this will help to prevent any water droplets from running down the paintwork and causing streaks. Furthermore, ensure that you dry off areas where dirt or grime, such as the wheels. Once you have dried the car completely, you can move on to waxing it.
